Who we are:
Hillside’s mission is to “Restore Lives and Build the Kingdom”. We believe that God has called us to do this by helping those who are lost CONNECT with Christ, challenge them to GROW to maturity in their faith, encourage them to put their faith into action and SERVE and give the opportunities to GO beyond the four walls of our church building to impact our Community and World!
Hillside Christian Church is an independent Christian Church. It is one of about 6,000 other churches like it. These churches range in size from a few members to over 15,000 in attendance each weekend. The other congregations it voluntarily associates with sponsor national and foreign mission activities and colleges. The churches also have camping and retreat centers that are used throughout the year for various gatherings and summer camp programs for children of all ages. Hillside helps sponsor Maranatha Bible Camp at Everton MO. The colleges and churches sponsor seminars and gatherings of different kinds to educate and encourage church leaders and those interested in furthering the spread of the gospel of Christ. All support for these endeavors is strictly voluntary in financial aid and attendance.
Hillside follows the pattern of the first churches found in the Book of Acts and the letters to the churches in the rest of the New Testament. We are governed by a group of Elders who use the Bible, prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit as their guides. These men are from within our congregation. We have no other governing authority except scripture in spiritual or administrative matters. We find no other structure supported by scripture.
What We Believe:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead, then ascended to heaven. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8 and John 3:16)
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God – a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Our proof text for truth. (2 Timothy 3:16 and Psalm 119:105)
We believe that every person is made in the image of God and has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
We believe that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and obey Him as Lord. (John 3:16-17)
We believe that those accepting Christ must repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9 and Acts 2:38)
We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and exists to evangelize the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return to claim His church and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
